SPA - Vintage Glamour

Yea ME!  The last day to turn in a postcard to Sunday Postcard Art and I got one done AND took the grandson to Big Bear (California) for the day.
The prompt was Vintage Glamour.  The wonderful example has a turn of the century woman on it.  Me?  I really like the Vargas (and faux Vargas) girls.  They have a wonderful, playful, sexuality that has me collecting more and more images.  This too, for me, is Vintage Glamour.
For this card I have used the following items -
Createwings - the background paper from her kit Creation 23
Far Far Hill - the lovely pin up.  She provides some wonderful freebies nearly every day.
Paula Kesselring - You may not be able to tell it, but this is a photoshop brush placed around the boarder of the paper.  I then put it on overlay mode to darken the edges of the paper.
The corner boarders and the writing are also photoshop brushes that I got from free sources.  I apologize if these are yours and I have forgotten who you are.  I am humbly sorry and grateful for your wonderful work.
This postcard will go into my folder and into my rotation of postcards that I send out at Postcrossing.com.  

The Magic of Love

                                                  Believe it or not, I have a new friend!
While that statement sounds a tad funny coming from a 51 year old woman, I find that I am looking forward to getting mail since I have been receiving postcards from a lovely young lady from China by the name of Sally.  Sally and her sweetheart Devin belong to Postcrossing.com, a web site that promotes the art of correspondence on the often mocked postcard.  (I firmly believe that postcards are the equivalent of Twitter for the technology impaired.)
   What I didn't know was that Sally and Devin are embarking on the "beginning of the rest of your life" tour.  You know, graduating high school and on to college.  That time when you realize that the world is a much bigger place than you first thought which causes you to start thinking about what is really important to you and you begin to work towards "adult" goals.  It is that time when you start thinking about the rest of your life and how your going to live it - what profession do I want to go into?  What about marriage? Love? Fun? (Is their fun after high school?).  Getting old(er) - oh wait, that's me...oops!.
You get the idea.
   Sally was worried that University would cause her never to see her sweetheart again.  And me, being the old(er) woman that I am, had to tell her that their time in University will go faster than she realizes, so if she is meant to be with Devin than it will happen regardless of University.  I also said that I look forward of the news that they have gotten married and are very happy. Yes, I am a romantic at heart.
   So in honor of Sally and Devin, I have made them a postcard.  I really hope they like it.  I have it in the back of my mind to do a series of "Sally and Devin" cards.  I enjoy the imagery that has been provided to me by Marsha at Tumblefish Studios.   In my mind I can see the two of them in all sorts of adventures!
I can't wait to make this into a real postcard and send it to Sally and Devin!

I do believe in the magic of love; that it can transform lives for the better.  It is truly magical.  Pure alchemy.  It is one of those basic elements that every person feels.  It crosses all boarders, invades countries, and transforms individuals.  So for young love everywhere, welcome to the magic show.

Mothers' Little Helper

There was a time when Mothers' Little Helper was Valium.  That was during the 60's when a womans' role was changing from stay-at-home wife and mother to the in-the-workforce, no-holds-barred, glass-ceiling-breaking force to be reckoned with.  Valium was the answer to the silent scream that millions of women were harboring in their hearts as their foundations were shook to their core.
Now, that we are more accepted in the workforce, politics, and in the hierarchy of some churches, life seems to be moving faster.  The haven from the insanity of the world that women had once created in their homes is now a check in station for the family unit as each scurries off to their activities.  The family table is the cell phone, a letter in the mail from friends and family is now a post on your Facebook wall.  We seem to run like hamsters on a wheel, scrambling, but never really getting anywhere.  And we are tired.
So I now present to you my newest postcard creation.
I love my profession.  And I love to laugh.  But in truth, Viagra is one of the more prescribed meds for Medicare recipients.  Its out of the closet and into the medicine chest.  This is a sad chuckle at the state of our society that we have to have a pill to make love and feel the closeness of our beloved.

Japanese Beauty

There is this wonderful designer that I know by the name of Nice Crane Designs.  I really like Japanese/Asian design and he does a wonderful job.  So I have used 2 of his backgrounds to make this 4x6 postcard design.

The background papers come from his Beautiful Japan series.  I blended them together using a clipping mask from Marcee Dugger (Maskee 6 available at Digital Scrapbook Place) The charcoal colored border is from Suzanne C. Walker's Grey Day (also available at DSP).  The pic of the Geisha and the stamp of the Buddha were both downloaded from the internet.  (The Buddha brush is from Deviant Art.  I'm sorry,but you're gonna have to use a search on this one...they have WAY too much stuff there!)
